Breaking news! Panda 3.0 and the death of iFrames

This is a very quick blog update to keep all of our clients up to speed with the latest developments with the Panda 3.0 roll out.

<iFrame>

Panda 3.0 has been labelled as an anti-spam driven roll out and we're seeing signs that this is true.

Due to the unique size of our client base we're able to see trends fast and one that we have picked up on over the last few days is iFramed content. Google are seeing iFrames as potential spam for 3 reasons:

1. You, the webmaster has no control over its content.
2. Google cannot see what's in an iFrame.
3. It could be classed as duplicate content.

We've seen the main reason for iFrames is to display a Twitter, Facebook or Trustpilot feed on home page.

So, get removing those iFrames people!

Google Releases Penguin 3.0. The First Penguin Update In Over A Year

Google confirms that a new version of its Penguin filter aimed at fighting spam went live on Friday

Google has confirmed that it updated its Penguin filter on Friday. Penguin targets sites deemed to be spammy.

Some noticed major changes in Google search results beginning late Friday night and speculated that this was due to the long-awaited Penguin Update that Google had said to expect this month.

Google verified today that this has happened. Google hasn’t yet given more details on the percentage of search results the latest version of Penguin has impacted or if there were any major changes made to it since the last release.

In terms of the impact to our clients. We have see the usual mix of clients seeing a ranking uplift with a few seeing a ranking decrease. The main reason for any decreases seems to be down to on-site relevance, with clients who followed the on-site relevance changes that we suggest during sign up seeing excellent results.

If you are a client and concerned about this latest update please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Video, the boss of all testimonials!

One of the greatest challenges facing any business that's got a great product is “getting the word out there”!

A great way to do this is by getting testimonials. However, the internet has become littered with fake testimonials on dodgy websites, especially in the SEO industry! The way we get around this is to make sure that all of our 165+ testimonials has a link to the client’s website and often we get potential clients touching base with existing clients to verify that a testimonial is still valid. However, we have now gone one step further.

Whenever someone gives us a testimonial we now ask them (if they have time) to send a video, and we can’t believe the results!

Testimonial from Kenneth Lambert at www.lowcostbusinesssuppliers.co.uk

It’s great to see how far people will go to shout about a product that they find works and represents good value. It helps promote their business and is such a powerful message to our potential clients.

Testimonial from Oliver and Stephen at www.tvwhenaway.co.uk

With the advent of smart phones, shooting a quick video has never been easier, and we would recommend any consumer facing business to encourage (wherever possible) their clients to do the same.

Testimonial from Matthew at www.vapourator.com

We get at least one testimonial a day relating to some, or all of our our products and services. Therefore, we hope to gain over the months a years ahead lots more videos as we strive to create the perfect digitial marketing service at the lowest possible cost.
